FRANKFORT, KY. – As of September 1, a variety of game seasons across Kentucky are open, including a favorite, mourning dove. We feature some Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources leaders as the action begins, this weekend, September 13 and 14, on “Kentucky Afield” TV.

Commissioner Jon Gassett and Deputy Commissioner Hank Patton not only steer Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, they are also avid sportsmen. At a private farm in Harrison County, we see that proper habitat practices make for happy hunting grounds.

Elsewhere, the fishing isn’t as wonderful. On a recent episode, host Tim Farmer caught a stringer of disappointment. This week, we return with a fisheries biologist to re-visit the idea of proper farm pond management.

Also joining us is Kentucky philanthropist Owsley Brown Frazier of the Frazier International Arms Museum in Louisville. He talks candidly with Farmer about one of the most prized private collections of firearms the world has ever known.

“Kentucky Afield” is a production of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. It is the longest continuously-running outdoor television show in the nation. The program airs Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern /7:30 p.m. Central and is repeated Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Central on KET 1.
